Where jobs come from

Four sources feed one list. They work in different ways and arrive at different times, but everything they find is treated identically afterwards.

Keyword search

Your search titles are run against a job-board aggregator covering UK vacancies — one search per title. Alongside each title it sends your salary floor and your search distance, and nothing else. Your CV is never sent to a job board. This is the source that produces most of the list, and it repeats in the background on a schedule, so new postings arrive without you going to look for them.

Job-alert emails

Connect a mailbox and the alert emails arriving in it are read for the roles inside them. A single alert routinely holds several roles, and each becomes its own entry. This is how every board you have ever subscribed to feeds the same scored list, without Rolehound needing to support that board itself. See forwarding job alerts.

URLs you paste in

Paste a link on the Add URLs tab of the Jobs page and the page behind it is fetched and read. This is the one source you drive by hand, and the only one whose results are never dropped by your filters. See adding a job by URL.

The company watchlist

Follow a company on the Watchlist and its own careers board is read directly. Six applicant-tracking systems are supported: Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Workday and BambooHR. This catches roles that never make it onto a job board at all. Those boards are read in the background, once for everyone who follows them rather than once per follower. See the company watchlist.

What they have in common

Whichever source a role arrives from, the same three steps follow, in this order.

Duplicates are collapsed first. The same employer, title and location arriving twice is one entry, whichever sources the copies came from — so a role you also pasted in yourself does not appear twice.

Then your filters. UK, salary floor, commute. See salary, location and commute.

Then scoring. What survives is read against your profile, and the fit score, one-line summary, strengths and concerns appear on the Suggestions tab.

Telling them apart

Each entry on the Jobs page carries a chip naming where it came from: Scraper for the keyword search, Email, Added by URL, and Watchlist. The tabs above the list use the same names with a count each, so you can look at one source at a time and see which of them is actually earning its keep for you.

Four sources, one deduplicated list.
